Bwana Asifiwe! (Praise God in Kiswahili)

I was blessed to have the opportunity to travel to Kenya last summer to serve at Into Abba's Arms Orphanage in Kinangop for one month. I stayed at the orphanage and helped with the daily needs of the staff - doing laundry, cleaning, cooking, helping at the nursery, and taking care of the children. I became very close with one of the little girls, Sharon, who is three years old. I took care of her every day; changed her diaper, got her dressed, helped feed her, brushed her teeth, tucked her into bed, took her to church and school, and played with her. I fell in love with Kenya and the people there. I have never experienced such joy, contentment, love, and peace as I did there. Africa has a special place in my heart and I know God is calling me back again. I want to become a teacher in the inner city and in Africa after I finish getting my degree (Education with a concentration in International Studies) at Point Loma Nazarene University. Even though I went there to serve, I know I was the one who was changed forever.
